Sananga is the name given to eye drops used by some indigenous Amazonian peoples, most notably the Matsés, Ticuna, Huni Kuin, and Yawanawá tribes. It is a powerful plant medicine often used alongside Kambo.  As part of the Chapala Lake training, we will be offering a workshop where we will be learning how to prepare our own Bechete, the Matsés version of Sananga. We procure from the Amazon, freshly shaved roots from the Tabernaemontana Undulata bush and prepare different intensities to try them during the course.

Lake Chapala lies about the same latitude as Puerto Vallarta or Western Sahara, located in the Mexican Highlands at about a mile elevation, which lowers the temperature (average highs in the 70s and sometimes 80s and lows in the 50s).

The area has beautiful hikes and traditional small towns like Ajijic and Jocotepec. There are convenience and drug stores within walking distance.

We will be staying in a beautiful private country house. Rooms and bathrooms will be shared between 2-3. Bedsheets and towels are provided. Laundry room and Wifi available.

Our venue has a beautiful garden with a heated pool, firepit, and magnificent views of the lake. We will try and do all ceremonies and practical work outdoors provided the weather allows it. It is not recommended to go into the water due to pollution. There are several spas in the area that take advantage of local thermal waters.

Three meals will be served a day. Snacks and tea will be available throughout the day. All food will be lovingly prepared and cooked on-site using fresh local ingredients. It will mostly be served buffet style and will be vegetarian although vegans and other special diets can be catered for. Please let us know about your dietary needs and/or restrictions as soon as possible so that we may plan ahead.
